Dr. Joe Vukin joined Oberlin Road Pediatrics in August of 2019. He attend Miami University of Oxford, Ohio for his undergraduate studies, majoring in Finance and earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He rounded out his education as a varsity athlete on the Swimming and Diving Team. After college and several years working with a large financial institution in Chicago, he returned to law school to leverage his business foundation with an understanding of legal process and structure. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law while also spending some time with the Environmental Law Program at the University of South Carolina School of Law.
After his Bar Exam, and with a burgeoning interest in health policy and medicine he returned to academia to earn his Medical Degree from Ross University School of Medicine, studying in the Caribbean, United Kingdom, and the mid-western United States. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga.
His clinical interests revolve around social determinants of health and preventative medicine strategies to encourage and optimize health. He is eager to learn more about the state of health and health care delivery in North Carolina, working at the intersection of law and medicine to create effective and sustainable solutions.
Outside of work, his interests include general aviation, adventure sports and traveling. He is always up for listening to live music. His wife Lauren is an Occupational Therapist and together they have a 3 year old son Henry, and baby Graham born in 2021. As a family they strive to spend as much time as possible outdoors exploring our Great State!
