After Hours
When an urgent need arises after our scheduled office hours, you can reach us through our answering service at our main number at 919-828-4747. Your call will be answered, and appropriate recommendations will be made.
Monday through Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm, your call will be forwarded to ORP's own nurse as we have visits in the evenings for urgent visits.
Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 8 pm, your calls will be forwarded to ORP's nurse as well, as we have urgent care appointments till early afternoon on those days too.
Fridays after 5 pm and all other days after 8 pm, the answering service will reach out to the Wake Med Nurse Triage Service. There is a $22 charge for calls ONLY after 8 pm that need the Wake Med Nurse Triage Service, and this will be billed directly to you. We will waive this fee for calls regarding newborns <90 days old or calls where the patient is instructed to go to the Emergency Room based on their severity of illness.
The On-call nurses can always page the On-call physician if needed.
We have found that answering services are not flawless. If your after-hours call is not returned in a reasonable amount of time (30 minutes), PLEASE call the service back and let them know this is the second time you have called.
